World Bodysurfing Championships

ONE, TWO...? If you see a bodysurfer, a really fine bodysurfer, out in the waves, you sometimes stop to watch. If a pair of people are out on the crests, you'll definitely take notice. But what of several bodysurfers? How about 350 to 400 water-amazing athletes over a single weekend? Yeah. Very watchable indeed. And hundreds of bodysurfers, some sporting fins, will be out in the ocean on Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21 at the 35th Annual World Bodysurfing Championships.

EARLY START: Things get going before 7 a.m. each morning, but if you want to catch the finals, be near Oceanside Pier on Sunday. If you do start early in the day, and you find yourself footloose (and fin-loose) and fancy-free by midday on Saturday, Stone Brewing is throwing an anniversary party in San Diego. There's also a gourmet food truck-a-thon at Del Mar (kudos San Diego for the salty/sudsy/snacky tips).
