Clothing Giveaway Serves Thousands of Families in Need

National Council of Jewish Women Volunteers Distribute More Than 85,000 pieces of Clothing, Books and Stuffed Animals

NBC4’s weathercaster, Fritz Coleman, was honored to participate at the National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles’ Annual Clothing Giveaway and Community Resource Fair on December 2.

During the Clothing Giveaway, thousands of in-need women, men, children, and families came to the Fairfax district from all over the Southland to select from 85,000 pieces of clothing, stuffed animals, and children’s books and collect information at the Community Resource Fair about programs and services to help meet basic needs. The items were donations collected at NCJW/LA’s nine Council Thrift Shops.

On behalf of NBC4, Coleman presented NCJW/LA Board President Amy Straus and Executive Director Hillary Selvin with an oversized $6,500 check to signify the station’s sponsorship of the successful event.
