NBC4 Southern California to Award $200K to Innovative Nonprofit Organizations

The application period for NBC4’s 21st Century Solutions grant challenge is now closed. We are in the process of reviewing applications and will announce the winners in the fall.

Qualifying nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties were invited to apply for a grant, beginning June 2 through Aug. 8.

This fall, one organization will be awarded $100,000, and two runner-up nonprofits will each receive $50,000.

"The 21st Century Solutions shines a light on local charities addressing community needs in fresh and novel ways," said Terri Hernandez Rosales, vice president of community affairs and communication for NBC4 Southern California. "Last year’s awardees exemplified the spirit of innovation, and we can’t wait to see this year’s creative programs."

The 21st Century Solutions initiative supports new, innovative programs in the following areas: Civic Engagement; Education; Environment; Jobs and Economic Empowerment; Media Arts and Technology.

This initiative is part of the NBCUniversal Foundation and expands to the 10 local markets served by NBC Owned Television Stations for a total of $1.2 million in 30 grants nationwide.
