NBCUniversal and NBC4 Host Free Earthquake Preparedness Open House

NBCUniversal and NBC4 Southern California joined the American Red Cross to help educate the community on earthquake preparedness. Local residents attended the free community open house on Saturday, October 19 at the Universal Studios back lot.

Robert Kovacik and Kathy Vara, co-anchors of NBC4 weekend news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., co-hosted the program and greeted the community. The family-friendly event offered learning opportunities on the most effective ways to prepare  homes, families and pets for the “big one.” Representatives from the American Red Cross gave presentations throughout the morning that focused on ‘Getting a Kit, Making a Plan, and Being Informed.’ Families also enjoyed a ‘Prepare TEENS: Jeopardy Game,’ and a ‘Prepare KIDS: Puppet Show,’ and had the chance to win several raffle prizes and purchase discounted earthquake kits.
