Artie Lange: “Howard Stern” Return Would Be “Greatest Thing Ever”

Artie Lange wants back on “The Howard Stern Show.”

The comedian and former “Howard Stern” sidekick returned to the radio Wednesday night for the first time since a suicide attempt more than a year and a half ago.

Lange joined fellow comedian Nick DiPaolo on a Fox Sports Radio show for three hours, riffing on sports and pop culture like the recent Casey Anthony verdict, according to reports.

He also said he’d been in rehab for substance abuse in Florida and thanked his counselor on air, the comic’s comic reported.

Asked by a caller about a possible return to Sirius XM Radio opposite the King of All Media, Lange said it would be “the greatest thing ever.”

"But, you know, listen–I was on the greatest show of all time for about nine years and I put them in a very awkward situation to say the least,” Lange said. “So, what am I gonna do? But, I love them all and they were great to me and I appreciate that."

Lange has been off the air since his hospitalization in January 2010. Cops said at the time he had stabbed himself with a kitchen knife, the New York Daily News reported.
