Bobby Brown Pleads Not Guilty to Latest Round of DUI Charges

Entertainer professes innocence in a Los Angeles court over charges relating to his bust in October

Bobby Brown's next step is maintaining his innocence.

The "Every Little Step" singer pleaded not guilty on Friday in a Los Angeles court to multiple DUI charges resulting from his drunken driving bust last month, E! News has learned.

Brown was pulled over around 1 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2012, for driving erratically near the city of Tarzana, Calif., and officers discovered he was behind the wheel without his court-mandated dashboard Breathalyzer.

Bobby Brown's latest hit: another DUI arrest

Deputy City Attorney Diego Edber, who is prosecuting Brown, tells E! News that the R&B star was not in court but that his attorney, Tiffany Feder, entered not guilty pleas on his behalf to the following three misdemeanor counts: driving under the influence with a refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving with a suspended license due to a conviction of an alcohol offense, and driving a vehicle without an ignition interlock device.

The last two counts are the result of another DUI arrest back in March in the San Fernando Valley. The 43-year-old Brown received three years' probation and did a spell in rehab after pleading no contest in that case.

Given the earlier screwup, the question at this hearing was whether the judge would throw the book at the New Jack Swinger and send him back to jail.

Bobby Brown slapped with multiple DUI charges

According to Edber, Brown was released on his own recognizance--but not before the judge ordered the New Edition crooner to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous classes per week as a condition of his release until the next court date. The judge also denied the prosecutor's request to impose a $75,000 bail on the entertainer.

If convicted of the new charges, he could face a maximum of two years in jail.

Brown's attorney could not be reached for comment. The next pretrial hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.
