For Michael Jackson fans who just can't wait for the official public memorial, there's a new alternative.
Relevé Unlimited, a Los Olivos-based company that describes itself as "a premiere destination management company," is putting on a party across the street from Neverland Ranch that "captures his spirit, his loves, his music, faith and commitment to our global community," according to a news release.
It even has a catchy title: "The Michael Jackson, Heal the World Memorial Gathering."
This event is not associated with Jackson's family, who released a statement Wednesday saying a public memorial is indeed the works but won't be held at Neverland. They did not provide any more details.
So, here we are, waiting to celebrate MJ in a blowout-bash fashion and we're left with two choices: 1) Wait for the family to announce an official event, or 2) Take what Relevé Unlimited is offering.
When it comes to parties, we'll take what we can get.
Gates open for Heal the World Memorial at 5 a.m. on Friday, and the event runs through Sunday, according to a news release:
The thousand acre parcel of land adjacent to Neverland Ranch, known as the Ted Chamberlin Ranch or "Rancho Los Potreros," will become a place of celebration with ample parking, entertainment, music, food and beverage, restroom facilities and services to support this instant global village.Large format video screens playing Michael's videos from his entire career along with world class sound systems thumping out his hits with plenty of dance floors and services to experience everything Michael!
In conjunction with the California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Sheriff, Santa Barbara County Fire, and other local law enforcement and emergency services, Relevé Unlimited will create an environment that is safe for the community and for the fans of Michael Jackson to celebrate a send off from his beloved country home.
A party like this isn't free. The Heal the World Memorial costs $40 per motor vehicle, required at the parking gate. Camping is forbidden, according to promoters.
