Katherine Heigl's gone to the dark side with her new auburn hair color. When making such a drastic change does your makeup need a makeover too?

"You don't have to completely change your makeup," says Katherine's makeup artist, Monika Blunder, who has also worked with Kristen Stewart, Jessica Alba and Rebecca Romijn.

"You simply need to warm up your skin tone, so you don't look washed out, by applying bronzer and go for a more sultry eye."

Here is Monika's Step-By-Step Guide to getting Katherine's look:

SKIN:
Blunder stepped up Heigl's foundation one shade by applying Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation SPF 20 in Shade 5.5 ($58). "Armani creates a flawless finish." Next up- YSL's Cream Blush in No.1 Velvety Peach ($38, available in August). When applying a cream foundation, Monika says it's important to do powder afterwards, not before.

Blunder "warmed up" Katherine's skin by applying NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna ($30) around the hairline and cheekbones with a big fluffy Kabuki Brush. "The trick is to apply the bronzer where the sun would naturally fall on your face."

EYES:
"When going from light to dark, you really want to step up the eyes." Blunder made Heigl's eyes darker than usual with earthy tones. First, line the upperlash line with Dior Crayon Eyeliner in Deep Brown ($26). Smudge the brown pencil with a finger so the line is not so perfect. Sweep the dark brown shade in Dior 5-Colours Iridescent Eyeshadow in Earth Reflection ($56) OVER the pencil to seal the liner. Next, dab the corner lid with Laura Mercier's Satinée Crème Eye Colour in Rum Satin ($22) to add highlight and a little sparkle to the eye. Line bottom lash line with Dior Crayon Eyeliner in Deep Brown ($26), then finish with Benefit BADgal Smoldering Black Eye Pencil ($20) to the inside of eye.

"For more intensity and drama," Blunder added some individual faux lashes to the outside corner of the eye and applied 3 coats of the new YSL Mascara Singulier in No.1 Deep Black ($30, newest mascara- not available until mid-October) to lashes. If you can't wait til October, YSL's Effet Faux Cils in No.1 High Density Black ($28.50) is a close substitute.

LIPS:
To balance out the dramatic eye, "go for a modern, neutral lip, beige is THE hot color right now." Monika did not use liner. The trick was to dab YSL's Rouge Volupte Lipstick in No.25 Soft Beige ($34, available in October) on to lips with ring finger. "Dabbing with your finger creates a more natural look…more of a stain."

Finally, Heigl's new sultry look is finished and set by lightly powdering the face with YSL's Semi-Loose Powder Natural Radiance in No.3 Amber ($58).
