Rosie O'Donnell: Last Week I Had a Heart Attack

"I'm lucky to be here," she wrote on her blog

Rosie O'Donnell suffered a heart attack last week after helping a woman from her car, the talk show star wrote in her "Rosie" blog Monday.

According to the post, titled, "my heart attack," O'Donnell, 50, explained in her trademark verse, that several hours after helping haul "an enormous woman / struggling to get out of her car," her chest started aching, her arms became sore and she became nauseous.

"I thought strained or pulled tissue," she wrote. "I went about my day / the pain persisted."

She searched women's heart attack symptoms on the internet and took Bayer aspirin as a precaution, but did not call 911.

The next day she visited a cardiologist who confirmed that she did in fact have a type of heart attack known as the "widow maker" and found out that one of her arteries was 99 percent blocked.

"I am lucky to be here," she wrote.

She credited the Bayer aspirin for saving her life. "Thank God / saved by a tv commercial / literally."

O'Donnell was rushed to a hospital from the cardiologist's office and had a stent inserted into her artery.

"Know the the symptoms ladies / listen to the voice inside / the one we all so easily ignore / CALL 911," she urged her readers. "Save urself."

O'Donnell's rep told NBC News that she is at home now resting comfortably.
