Naomi Campbell Being Stalked Around Miami

This bodyguard is one employee she probably won't bean with a phone

It's never a dull moment around supermodel Naomi Campbell, though the excitement usually stems from the notorious diva herself or the mobile phones she's so fond of throwing.

According to her London rep, this time it's Campbell who's seeking protection: she's doing the rounds for Miami's Art Basel in company of a bodyguard because of a stalker who has already confronted her at one event.

"She usually doesn't travel with a bodyguard," said Alan Edwards in Campbell's defense after the New York Post's Page Six blasted her for using muscle and avoiding cameras at a charity auction hosted by Miami magazine at the Epic on Thursday night. "But the police here actually recommended to her that she use one.

"She didn't want to take any chances, especially after what happened to Gianni Versace."

Campbell's shadow, however, has already caused a stir: later Thursday night at a party at the W Hotel hosted by Stavros Niarchos and Vito Schnabel, the leggy beauty was chatting up the DJ when an unidentified woman, characterized as "British," ran up and began screaming at her. Edwards identified the woman as a stalker.

She yelled, "How could you do that, you [expletive]!" an eyewitness told the Post. "She was quickly dragged away; Naomi started walking in the opposite direction, and yelled back at her."

Miami police won't say if the "haunted" Campbell filed a formal complaint, but no doubt her boyfriend, Russian billionare Vladislav Doronin, has gotten an earful. Her schedule at Art Basel is grueling for a person in hiding: she dined with Jamie Foxx and gallerist Larry Gagosian on Wednesday at Mr. Chow, and hung with Stephen Dorff and Nicky Hilton at Solea on Thursday.

If the pressure gets to Campbell and she needs a laugh, we recommend reading translations of her stalker news from foreign languages back into English -- according to one, Naomi is in "Algonquin" using a "keeper patch" that police have suggested she "ingest."

Devouring the help? That sounds more like the Naomi we know.
