Miss California and champion of opposite marriage, Carrie Prejean, may have some pageant-caliber competition in the battle for marital hearts and minds.
Former Miss USA Shanna Moakler will appear in print ads opposing Proposition 8, the initiative that banned same-sex marriage in California, US Weekly reported Tuesday.
Moakler, who has appeared in "Entourage" and "CSI," told US Weekly that Prop 8 led "a campaign of confusion and never made clear what was being asked of the people."
"I find most people have a problem with the word marriage. What I hope for is helping others understand 'civil union' and then one day helping people learn 'marriage' is something not God, not the state or country can solidify, but between two people who love each other," Moakler said in a statement to US Weekly.
Two former Miss California contestants, Raquel Beezley and Tamiko Nash, will also appear in the ad, US Weekly reported.
Prejean put herself at the center of the same-sex marriage debate at this year's Miss USA pageant, which she placed as first runner-up. She told celebrity judge Perez Hilton she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman.
In other Prejean news, US Weekly Magazine has obtained a photo of the beauty queen with a "transgendered female NYC nightlife sensation Amanda Lepore." We're not sure what that proves, but OK, here's the link.
