Mia Farrow's Son Dies From Apparent Suicide: ME

Thaddeus Wilk Farrow, a paraplegic and polio survivor, was adopted from Calcutta, India in 1994

The 27-year-old paraplegic son of actress Mia Farrow fatally shot himself in the torso before being found in his vehicle along a Connecticut road, the state medical examiner's office ruled Thursday.

Thaddeus Wilk Farrow was found seriously wounded in his vehicle in Roxbury on Wednesday, about 8 miles from his mother's home in neighboring Bridgewater. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

State troopers responded to Route 67 around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday and found Thaddeus Farrow inside his car suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to a police report.

He was transported to Danbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m., the report said.

The medical examiner's office determined the cause of death was suicide during an autopsy. State police had said there was no criminal element to the death.

Mia Farrow adopted Thaddeus from Calcutta, India in 1994, according to E! News. He was one of 10 children the actress has adopted.

Mia Farrow wrote in a Twitter posting on Thursday that her family is devastated by Thaddeus' death.

"He was a wonderful, courageous person who overcame so much hardship in his short life," she wrote. "We miss him. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and works of kindness."

Representatives for the actress did not immediately return messages on Thursday.

State police said Thaddeus Farrow lived in Torrington, about 24-mile from where he was found. Public records show he lived at his mother's house until a few years ago.

A 2013 Vanity Fair profile of Mia Farrow described Thaddeus, a paraplegic and polio survivor, as a car mechanic who was studying to be a police officer.
