Steve Harvey's ‘Miss Universe' Fail Sparks Memes

The final minutes of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant were not Steve Harvey's best moments on live television.

The 58-year-old talk show and game show host is usually a natural when it comes to live television. But during Sunday night's broadcast of the annual worldwide Miss Universe pageant, he made a cringeworthy flub that may never be forgotten -- he named the wrong winner.

"Okay folks, I have to apologize," he awkwardly said on stage in a moment of sheer confusion.

While he initially announced that Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez-Arvalo would be going home with the largest crown, it was actually Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurztbach who was meant to be honored with the highest title. He had embarrassingly misread the ballot card. He apologized and the rightful winner was crowned in arguably the most awkward few minutes in pageant history.

It was a moment for the history books, one that viewers, fans, and the Internet may never forget.

As soon as viewers realized what was unfolding on air, social media exploded with reactions comparing the embarrassing bit to everything from Justin Bieber's chart topper "Sorry" to a scene from the early 2000s movie classic Mean Girls.
