Kara DioGuardi is going to be a mom.

The former "American Idol" judge and her builder husband Mike McCuddy are expecting their first child, a son, via a surrogate, a source confirms to E! News.

They've already picked out a name--Greyson James Carroll McCuddy, according to People magazine, which first reported the happy news.

The couple, who married in 2009 after meeting when McCuddy was working on a house next to DioGuardi's property in Maine, have been trying to get pregnant for quite some time.

The singer-songwriter opened up about their struggles in her 2011 memoir, A Helluva a High Note. She wrote that she underwent three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during her last season on Idol.

"I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV," she wrote about her decision to quit the show. "Leaving was painful and there will always be a part of me that wanted to stay. But my desire to be in control of my destiny was larger than my need to be a household name."
