Mary J. Blige's Father in Critical Condition After Stabbing

Police have reportedly arrested his ex-love interest on a charge of assault with intent to murder.

Mary J. Blige's father is currently in critical condition after undergoing surgery at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich.

According to local reports, Thomas Blige, 63, was taken to the hospital this morning following what police say was a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, which resulted in the celeb's dad getting stabbed in the neck.

Police have reportedly arrested his ex-love interest on a charge of assault with intent to murder.

Authorities said they were called to the Arbors of Battle Creek, an apartment complex at Rambling Road and Capital Avenue Southwest, at 6:58 a.m. Thursday. Police found Blige in his apartment with three stab wounds, including one to his neck.

The woman was taken to the Calhoun County jail and was expected to be arraigned Friday in Calhoun County District Court.

Detective Sgt. Jim Martens said police believe the argument between the 63-year-old and his ex sparked when Blige saw the woman deflating the tires on his Ford SUV in the parking lot outside the apartment and went out to confront her. Why she was deflating his tires in the first place has not been explained.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first domestic run-in between these two. Martens said police have handled seven domestic violence complaints between Blige and his 50-year-old ex-girlfriend since August.

The woman was charged in October with aggravated domestic violence after she hit Blige in the head with a glass candlestick. According to reports, she entered a no-contest plea to the charge and on Jan. 10 was placed on six months probation. She was ordered to have "non-assaultive" contact with Blige.
