Michael Jackson's New Single Premieres at the iHeartRadio Awards

Michael Jackson roared back onto the pop charts Thursday night when a song he recorded 31 years ago had its debut (with a little help from Usher!) at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

"Love Never Felt So Good" is the hugely anticipated first single from Jackson's posthumous "Xscape" album set for release on May 13.

Jackson wrote, recorded and produced the song with Paul Anka in 1983, but it has been "contemporized" by Anka and Jackson estate co-executor John McClain, according to an Epic Records statement.

"Love Never Felt So Good" features "a magic combination of the new and the original production that retains the track's analog, early 80s feel, while also sounding right at home with the disco-soul inflected music of today," the label said.

"Voice" coach Usher helped debut the single during the inaugural iHeartRadio Music Awards, executing Jackson's trademark dance moves in front of a video screen showing images of the "Thriller" singer, who died at age 50 on June 25, 2009, while preparing for his "This Is It" comeback tour.

Two versions of "Love Never Felt So Good" are available. The first is a solo effort from Jackson, the second features Justin Timberlake's vocals alongside those of the King of Pop.

Timberlake shared the news of the release to his 32 million followers on Twitter, with a message that included a link to the song and the comment #PLAYITLOUD.

"Xscape" was executive produced by Timbaland and includes tracks Jackson recorded in the 1980s and 1990s, some from early recording sessions for albums "Bad" and "Dangerous."
