“The Voice” Live Rounds Kick Off

The fates of the final 20 rest with audience votes

Twenty aspiring singers on "The Voice" are one step closer to the ultimate grand prize — a record deal, and the show's title — as the live rounds got underway on Monday night and continue Tuesday.

And "Voice" fans get an extra dose of song this week with a special Thursday night episode.

The remaining contestants have survived the blind auditions, battle rounds and knockout rounds to advance to the latest phase of the competition.

With the live performances, their fates rest solely in the audience's hands. Each week, the two hopefuls with the lowest numbers of votes will exit the competition.

They've proven themselves already to their coaches. Now they must prove themselves to viewers at home.

NOTE: The original version of this article stated that the live rounds were to begin Thursday. They began Monday Nov. 4.

"The Voice" airs Mondays at 8/7c and Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
