Solange Knowles Physically Lashes Out at Jay Z in Elevator: Report

Jay Z and his sister-in-law Solange Knowles were involved in a physical altercation in the hours following last week's celebrity-filled Met Gala, according to video surveillance footage obtained by TMZ.

The website reports the fracas occurred in an elevator at New York's Standard Hotel. According to TMZ the video appears to show Beyonce's 27-year-old sister clawing and kicking at her brother-in-law as the "Drunk in Love" singer looks on.

It's unclear what caused the argument. No sound is included with the footage.

Representatives for Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The obtained footage begins with Beyonce already inside the elevator. She is joined by Jay Z, Solange and a third, unidentified male. After Jay Z and Solange appear to have a verbal exchange, Solange begins attacking the "Holy Grail" rapper with her fists and then with kicks.

Jay Z reaches out in what appears to be an attempt at holding her arms as the other man present, possibly a bodyguard, tries to pull Solange away from the rapper.

Standing next to her husband in the corner of the elevator, Beyonce appears to remain composed and says something to her younger sister as Solange continues to verbally berate her brother-in-law.

TMZ goes on to report the three walked out of the building together but then separated with Beyonce and Solange leaving together in one car, while security walked Jay Z to a different vehicle.

“We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests," a publicist for the Standard Hotel said in statement issued to theGrio. "We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”
