Songbird and boyfriend Jermaine Dupri end 7-year relationship
Friends say Dupri was not at Jackson's side during the memorial because, "He doesn't do funerals."
Janet Jackson may be asking herself, "Why did I get Married?"
Jackson and her boyfriend of seven years, record producer Jermaine Dupri, have split up, reports Us Weekly.
"His friends are telling people it's over," a source tells the magazine. "They've been moving in different directions for a while," tells another source.
Perhaps most evident of their impending split was Dupri's absence at the Jackson family memorial. A close friend explained to the magazine that Dupri "doesn't attend funerals."
Friends have been speculating what caused the rift, with some suggesting the pair may have collaborated too often. Dupri produced several tracks on Jackson's last two albums, "Discipline" and "20 Y.O."
Others close to the couple suggest Jackson, 43, and Dupri, 36, were never really compatible.
"Jermaine likes to be out there, mingling with everybody and Janet's more shy," said an unnamed source.
"She's devastated," an insider said about Jackson, still mourning the loss of her brother.
"She's busy caring for Michael's kids. Janet's the family backbone.'
