Kim Kardashian's wedding - can you wait until October to see it?

The reality wonder is getting married to Nets forward Kris Humphries this Saturday Aug. 20, and the world awaits what promises to be a spectacle of Hollywood proportions.

But the world will have to wait a little longer than a few days to see it. Savvy businesswoman that she is, Kim Kardashian has awarded the exclusive video rights to the wedding to E!.

It's totally possible footage or images will leak from the wedding, or a few strategically placed promos will come out in days, immediately after the blessed event. But otherwise, you'll have to wait until Oct. 9 (mark it on the calendar now!) for the first part of "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" on E! The second part will air the next day, so circle that date, too. People magazine will carry the exclusive pictures.

So until then, 10 things you should know about the wedding to hold you over:

    1. The Dress
Kim Kardashian's wedding dress is being designed by uber-bridal designer Vera Wang. Friend Tyra Banks told People magazine that she advised Kim to wear "a silhouette that the world isn’t used to seeing her in."  Since Kim generally wears clingy, curve-loving gowns, should we expect a frilly, Cinderella-style ball gown with a high neckline? We're betting no.

    2. The Invitation
Wedding invitations for the marriage of "Kimberly Kardashian and Kristopher Humphries" are actually housed in their own boxes. White with black scrollwork and script-writing, they are also studded with hematite crystals and a beautiful series of interlocking Ks. They were designed by Los Angeles stationers Lehr & Black, who have created invites for other celebrity wedding such as and Fergie and Josh Duhamel's nuptials. The invites request that guests wear black tie. Of course.

    3. The Ring
Ah, the engagement ring. A blindingly bright, custom-designed 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz creation, it includes three inscriptions, two of them biblical. Fiance Kris Humphries presented it to Kim with a proposal spelled out in red rose petals.

    4. The Groom
Sure, it's easy to forget about the groom with all this glitz and glamor, but a few facts you should know: Kris Humphries is a forward for basketball team the New Jersey Nets. They started dating in January, and were engaged by May. He also has two sisters named Krystal and Kaela. They should get along famously with Khloe, Kourtney, and Kim. Moving on to more interesting things....

    5. The Guests
RadarOnline reports that A-list guests will include Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. And while the invite specifies black tie, the latest buzz is that guests must wear black or white, a la Truman Capote's famous ball. The Huffington Post speculates that this means the bride is likely wearing something other than white, all the better to stand out -- in case you don't, you know, know who she is.

    6. The Secrecy
Don't expect to see breathless dispatches with photos from wedding guests on Twitter or Facebook. Guests reportedly will have to turn over all cell phones and other recording devices and go through metal detectors, reports the Huffington Post.  But fans now know where the wedding will be held: X17  Online reports the festivities will take place at the Sotto Il Monte estate in Montecito, Calif. You may remember that is where J Lo and Ben Affleck were supposed to tie the knot until their wedding was called off. It's a pretty awesome space.

    7.  The Nitty-Gritty
You can follow Kim on Twitter (@KimKardashian) to get a glimpse of the sort of bride-to-be-details she is tending to as the days tick by.  "Such a great workout w @Gunnar! Gunnar has me on the grind!!!!:" she tweeted Aug. 15 about her training with celebrity body guru Gunnar Peterson.  She also named relayed her joy over an eyebrow shape-up with "Anastasia", presumably brow goddess Anastasia Soare. (No word on whether the black, lacy number Kim wears in her Twitter background picture will be replaced with something more demure after she is a married woman, by the way.)

    8. The Wedding Party
Like many weddings, this is a family affair. But a family affair in the way only a Kardashian gathering can be. Mom Kris Jenner treated herself to a facelift, for example. Kourtney Kardashian let slip on Twitter that the bridesmaid dresses will be green (we'll see if that is true). And Kim has reportedly arranged for white Rolls Royce Phantoms and Maybachs to transport the Kardashian clan.

    9. The Registry
If you want to buy Kris and Kim a gift, go to the registry at Gearys of Beverly Hills, where $1,250 silver serving spoons and $800 crystal ash trays are on the wish list. China pattern? Chaine D'Ancre by Hermes. Silver pattern? Torchon by Buccellati. You have those in your dining room? We don't either.

    10. The Money
It's anyone's guess how much this extravaganza is going to cost. -- we don't even know about the food and entertainment yet.  For a yardstick of major weddings, keep in mind that some experts put the cost of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton's celebration at $70 million-$100 million. We do know that the Kardashians will likely take in some revenue to foot their bills, starting with the broadcast and photo rights. Kim also created created 1,000 bottles of a (for now) limited-edition fragrance called "Love," which sold out in a hot reality-show second at $100 a bottle for the 799 bottles available to her adoring fans. Here's to additional post-wedding marketing concepts. And, of course, enduring love.
