“Bachelor” Jake “Saddened” After Split with Vienna

Jack Pavelka’s engagement to Vienna Girardi has been grounded but the “Bachelor” star says the pair’s friendship is still very much on.

"I'm saddened by the whole thing," Pavelka told a TMZ cameraman on Tuesday, a day after his rep made the breakup official. "No matter what happens, Vienna and I will remain friends."

The two reality stars, who shared a waltz during the finale of this season's "Dancing With the Stars," were planning on a summer wedding in 2011, according to an interview Girardi gave to E! News last month.

Pavelka told TMZ he was not “even going to comment” on speculation that his pursuit of fame drove the couple apart.

When Girardi moved out of Pavelka's home, she left a goodbye note and the three carat diamond ring Pavelka had used to propose to her, Girardi's stepmom told the gossip site.

Pavelka, 32, a pilot from Dallas, paired up with Girardi, 24, in March at the end of a wild season on the reality show that saw one contestant leave mid-season due to an ultimatum from her employer and found another accused of having a fling with one of the show's producers.

Girardi won Jake's heart over fan favorite Tenley Molzahn and Ali Fedotowsky, who went on to become the current "Bachelorette."

During her time on the show, Girardi was the target of viewers' ire and was taken to task in the media over her plastic surgery, rumors of past infidelity and her diva tendencies in the "Bachelor" house.

The reality franchise does not boast a particularly impressive track record. Four of the 13 couples who met on "The Bachelor" are still together, according to The Associated Press
