Giuliana and Bill Rancic Are Having a Baby

The baby is due in late summer via a gestational carrier

A year of challenging health issues is culminating in a lot of joy for Giuliana and Bill Rancic.

The reality show couple is having a baby, the pair announced Monday morning on the "Today" show.

The 37-year-old E! "Fashion Police" host suffered a miscarriage in 2010 and was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, leading to a double mastectomy.

She and her "Apprentice"-winning husband have documented their struggle to get pregnant — and their struggle with her cancer — on their show "Giuliana & Bill."

Because of the challenges posed by Giuliana's cancer treatment, a gestational carrier is carrying the baby, which means the baby will biologically be both Bill's and Giuliana's.

"It was pretty much one of the best moments of my life, if not the best moment of my life," Giuliana Rancic told Ann Curry. "It was incredible. We've been trying for so long and been through so much."

"This was our last chance," her husband said.

The embryo that resulted in the pregnancy was banked prior to the breast cancer diagnosis, the couple told "Today."

The baby is due in late summer. The Rancics said they know the sex of the baby but are keeping it secret for now.
