If you've ever shared a home with a kitty, you do know this: They're a curious, exploratory lot.
One minute they're sniffing around a cupboard, and the next they're up on the bed, making a nest with your pillows. Cats frankly amaze on many feline fronts, but surely their ability to stay on the move, with sleekness and sure-footed confidence, is one among many of their stand-out qualities.
Same goes for another famous cat around town, The Cat & Fiddle Pub & Restaurant. If you were a regular at The Cat back in 1982, the year it opened, you were happily prowling about its first location in Laurel Canyon. Later, the foam-serving feline popped up on Sunset Boulevard, and more fans found it over the decades, in large part because of that picturesque front courtyard.
Of course, that much-loved courtyard wasn't the whole story: The warm atmosphere, and the convivial spirit conveyed by a close-knit band of regulars, wove into The Cat's steadfast character. And while the Sunset lease was lost, fans hoped that the friendly pub would land on its paws, somewhere close, sometime soon.
Brilliant news: The Cat's at it again, with a fresh 'n frisky location, still in Hollywood, though at a more southerly location than the Sunset spot: Best pad for the corner of Highland and Melrose for your next dish of milk.
Er, ale.
The Grand Reopening Week? It's on now, through Sunday, June 11, with daylong specials like Cat's Cider for six bucks and a Pie & Pint for $13. The address? Head for the "Little European Corner" that's cropped up in that spot on Highland, and look for 742 N. Highland Avenue.

The pub has a Tudor-style exterior, and a traditional hanging sign, further Brit-ing up the charming enterprise.
Southern California does rock some authentic British pubs, with The Cat & Fiddle coming in strong on the cool cred. It was founded by The Gardner Family, and fans of the British Invasion scene of the 1960s and '70s will recognize the name of bassist Kim Gardner, who passed away in 2001.
The music legacy'll live on at the latest incarnation of The Cat, so keep an eye on the pub's social media to see if some rockin' tunes, or traditional Irish pipes, are in store that night.
