Chilly Dash: Cupid's Undie Run

Fundraising runners'll strip down to their skivvies and make for the streets of downtown.

The 80-degree days festooning the middle of SoCal's February can lull us into a sense of springtime bliss. Will it keep getting warmer? Probably. Has it always been 80 degrees? Seems like it. Should we all jump in a pool? Absolutely.

But be not lulled, lovers of sunshine, especially if you plan on participating in the strip-down-to-your-skivvies run that'll hoof it, for one mile, through downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Be. Not. Lulled.

For temperatures will dip a bit for the sweet-of-heart, popping-of-eye Cupid's Undie Run, an annual dash that seeks to raise knowledge and awareness about Neurofibromatosis, a condition that "affects one in every 3,000 people." Pain, bone issues, and other challenges face those impacted by the disease.

To bring attention to the forefront, and to raise funds for the Children's Tumor Foundation, several SoCalers will head to Belasco Theatre early in the afternoon on Feb. 20 to make waves in a very attention-catching way.

There are few things that tend to grab the spinning looking glass of public attention like a quick jog in your laciest dainties, but over a thousand brave-hearted, not-too-shy people are up for dashing down public streets in their near-birthday suits, year after year.

And not just here: Cupid's Undie Run hoofs it through 35 cities nowadays.

LA says goodbye to the iconic Conga Room

The weather says it'll be in the low 70s — that's almost the 80s, right? -- and the run is at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, which, let's be frank, is the least goosebumpliest hour on the clock.

You can do this, but even if you can't for reasons involving coldness or a non-desire to undie-it-up around downtown LA, you can donate and support the mile-long fun run.

Nope, it's not the No Pants Subway Ride, which is a chilly-legged January staple. But it is an important and headline-making happening that helps a lot of people, and we're not even talking about the bold souls who sign up to jog the mile course in their favorite long johns or intimate apparel.

So dig out your best
