Universal Studios Hollywood unleashes “Insidious: Beyond the Further,” an All-New Terrifying Halloween Horror Nights Maze and living trailer for Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures’ Stage 6 Films "Insidious: Chapter 4." Halloween Horror Nights opens on Friday, Sept. 15.

Have you ever entered a maze at Halloween Horror Nights, tenuously, teeth-chatteringly, with a dreadful fear of what awaits you within the maze's walls?

It's a popular pursuit come the fall. That's when the seasonal scare-tacular arrives at Universal Studios Hollywood, bringing with it monster-packed scare zones, eeky experiences, and those famous mazes.

And if the maze you're entering is based on a movie, chances are very strong that the movie has already been released, and thus seen, by many fright fans in the maze's queue.

Things'll be slightly different with the latest maze to be announced for the 2017 Halloween Horror Nights line-up. The name? It's "Insidious: Beyond the Further," and while terrifying touchstones and eerie hallmarks from the first three "Insidious" films will be seen or alluded to inside the corridor-twisty space, the fourth film shall be referenced, too.

The twist here? The fourth chapter of the Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures' Stage 6 Films' hit horror franchise will open on Jan. 5, 2018.

Which makes this maze a "living trailer" for the upcoming movie, in addition to a knees-quaking homage to the Blumhouse-helmed "Insidious" stories of recent years.

"The creepy new maze will delve deep into brilliant parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier's past, starting with a childhood in which her paranormal abilities emerged... until her mother's untimely death by a demonic entity," reveals the studio.

This sets up maze goers for a dread-filled journey into the Further, the "...vacuous netherworld caught between the living and the dead..."

If you're up for such a scary adventure, keep that courage high: "The Shining," "American Horror Story: Roanoke," "Ash vs Evil Dead," "Saw: The Games of Jigsaw," and the "Titans of Terror Tram" (and maze) are all coming up at the shivers-aplenty extravaganza.

Also new in 2017? An RIP experience, giving attendees a chance to dine ahead of time (as well as valet parking privileges and a front-of-the-line pass, led by a guide).

Universal Studios Hollywood and NBC Owned TV Stations operate under the same parent company NBCUniversal.
