    Ski Dazzle
Hoping to do a lot of this over the coming months? Stock up on your gear at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

On a scale from 1 to !!!!!, how excited were you to see the heavy, plump, stick-to-the-ground flakes falling at Mammoth Mountain and Big Bear and Boreal and Yosemite over the last few weeks?

Most winter enthusiasts around the state fell into the !!!!! camp, in large part because the winter of 2014-2015 swooped in, and crumbled, with a big, dry, nearly snow-free thud.

More than one impressive storm has swept across the Golden State's peaks in recent days, however, and it isn't even officially wintertime yet. The timing is prime, then, to stock up, and get stoked, for the potential snowfall ahead, and few events are as good at stoking that snowfall fervor as Ski Dazzle.

You don't even need to make the winding drive to the mountains to participate. It's in downtown Los Angeles, at the convention center, which is decidedly, unarguably free of snow every single day of the year.

But inside, from Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6? You'll encounter a flurry of photographs lining booths, booths also lined with skis and poles and brochures detailing the offerings of various mountain resorts and why their slopes and trails are best.

It's a show that's "been going strong for over 35 years!," and something of a staple in the West, with versions in Seattle and Sacramento. The LA version features "4 Football Fields of Exhibitor and Sponsor bargains," which is whole lot of ski goodness to take in.

Winter-themed cooking demos, lift ticket offers, on-hand experts, and other bundle-up, find-your-mittens goodies fill out the various areas and 250+ exhibitor booths.

Will this truly be the snow season to end all snow seasons? You'll hear "El Niño" mentioned several times during your Ski Dazzle stroll, surely. Whether January and February and March look like November 2015 remains to be seen (or look even stronger). But you'll want to be ready, in the gear department, so you can jump in your car and skedaddle to your favorite slope, once you hear the weather report.
