PaleyFest 2017: First TV Show Reveals
    This Is Us
See the cast and creative crew behind "This Is Us" discuss their hit show at the 34th annual PaleyFest Los Angeles. The TV Q&A spectacular is at the Dolby Theatre from March 17 through 26, 2017.

A newcomer on the scene, any scene, is often advised to hold various horses, to carefully ply their craft, to wait and see, and to ultimately stick it out before the hoped-for glory arrives.

But two fresh offerings on the small screen are rocketing to that coveted big-deal-on-stage status in the springtime of 2017. That's when the venerable PaleyFest Los Angeles, or the William S. Paley Television Festival, if you prefer, sets up starry shop at the Dolby Theatre for several nights of actor-packed panels.

The Paley Center for Media's 34th annual top-television to-do just revealed its first three 2017 invitees on Tuesday, Dec. 13, and, indeed, two new obsessed-over shows made the cut: HBO's epic sci-fi "Westworld" and NBC's family drama "This Is Us."

A third show, also obsessed over something fierce, is joining the March 17-26, 2017 schedule, too. It's "American Horror Story: Roanoke" from FX (true, "Roanoke" is a new offering, but AHS is a spooky 'n strong stalwart that's currently in its sixth season).

Other series reveals will soon roll out, as is tradition around the holidays, but television fans can count on several major actors from a series appearing on stage, as well as the creator and other creatives involved with the production.

Tickets for PaleyFest, which has a partner in Hulu, can move as fast as a snappy plotline, especially since the occasional anniversary/reunion night for a bygone hit can pop up in the roster.

The first on-sale date, for Paley Center Supporting and Patron Members (as well as Citi cardmembers, with Citi serving as the event's official card), is Jan. 9, 2017. The Paley's individual members get their chance at tickets on Jan. 11, with the general public on-sale date happening the following day, Jan. 12.

If you're into your series, whether that means binge-watching or doing the slow-drip, soak-up-every-morsel thing, keep an eye on PaleyFest, and whether your show gets the shoulder tap.

For a fan to see the stars and creators on stage, answering questions, joking, and pondering the future of their show, is a treat that can't be confined to the screen in your den. PaleyFest gives TV mavens a real see-it-all-in-person experience, no titles or credits or pause button or volume required.
