Weekend: Endeavour Fest

It's a first anniversary party for one famous space shuttle.

Happy First Anniversary, Endeavour: When you're a space shuttle, you enjoy a lot of anniversaries: Your first time in the air, your first time in space, the first presidential visit. Thus it makes sense that the space shuttle that's called the California Science Center home for a year is getting a first anniversary party. Whoa. Has Endeavour really been here for a year? Are you still holding your breath as it inches up Crenshaw? Let's celebrate from Friday, Oct. 11 through 13 at the Samuel Oschin Pavilion. Astronauts and other luminaries are set to show at the free bash.

AIDS WALK Los Angeles: Friends, co-workers, and a number of celebrities will gather together and walk to raise money for AIDS Project Los Angeles and several other organizations on Sunday, Oct. 13. And while teams do famously walk together, individuals hit the West Hollywood-based route, too, all with fundraising and awareness in mind and at heart. Just be sure to stretch out with Richard Simmons beforehand -- he's leading the pre-walk aerobic workout.

Pasadena ARTWalk: Billed as the San Gabriel Valley's "largest urban art fair," ARTWalk regularly draws over 6,000 people coming to scope out paintings, buy pottery, and meet artists. Is it kind of the perfect fall day? Beyond kind of, especially if browsing art outside, for free, is your bag. Is it kind of perfect that it happens in the Playhouse District? Beyond. Be in Pasadena on Saturday, Oct. 12 (and have some cash on hand for that print you've been searching for).

Downtown Diversions: Remember the sweet 'n chillaxed outdoor film festivals of summer? A couple of them have popped up for some merry October mayhem. Street Food Cinema shows up with "Psycho" at LA State Historic Park on Oct. 12 while Eat|See|Hear|Scream! heads for a downtown space to show "Poltergeist" on Oct. 12. But what of snackables? Food trucks'll be on hand, or you can swing by Artisanal LA at LA Mart earlier in the day for fancy treats. (It's there on Oct. 13 as well.)

Archives Bazaar: If you're into local history -- like really into it -- then this free event at the Doheny Library at USC is a must, must, must (we typed that three times to drive home the point). Picture yourself combing through all kinds of LA history and documents and photographs for a day. Pictures yourself finding out about that one building you always drive by and wonder about. Picture yourself leaving with even more local knowledge. Tempted, LA lover? You should be. It happens Oct. 12.
