Weekend: Hollywood Christmas Parade

Penn & Teller serve as the grand marshals for this longtime slice of Tinseltown cheer.

Hollywood Christmas Parade: As far as starry floats-and-more spectaculars go, this one is truly venerable and cheerful as all get-out. Well, maybe not too cheerful this year, as Grumpy Cat will appear in the grand roll down Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. As for the grand marshals? Penn & Teller will magically fill the esteemed roles, and several stars'll do the perch-in-a-convertible-and-wave thing. Bands, ponies, and, you betcha, Santa Claus will make festive cameos at the 84-year-old parade. As for the road closures? Important to know. As for the date? Sunday, Nov. 29.

Wishing Tree: Want to pay it forward, help a friend, spotlight a deserving co-worker, and spread the good-of-heart holiday cheer? NBC4 and Universal CityWalk have teamed up to present The Wishing Tree, a multiweek wish-making event. Leave your wish at the CityWalk tree, or online at NBC4, starting on Nov. 27, and then tune in to NBC4 at 5 and 6 p.m. from Dec. 9 through 23 as Weathercaster Fritz Coleman reveals a granted wish. Make those wishes from Nov. 27 through Dec. 22.

LA Master Chorale Caroling Bus: Festive flash mobs are a semi-common sight when the holidays arrive, but seeing — and hearing — an acclaimed chorale group as they pop up, hither and yon, to bring carol-filled joy to unsuspecting out-and-abouters, is far rarer. That's just what the Master Chorale'll be up to, on Saturday, Nov. 28, on their spankin', shiny, and oh-so-brand-new Caroling Bus. The double-decker will stop by Old Pasadena, the zoo, LACMA, and other spots, too. Listen up, LA, and feel the surprise joy.

Reindeer at the LA Zoo: The expansive Griffith Park-based animal park introduced its Zoo Lights in 2014, but it stayed true to a gaggle of popular seasonal visitors, too, who prefer to meet their public in the daytime. We speak of the gorgeous-of-antler, gentle-of-eye reindeer, who will be on view at the Los Angeles Zoo from Friday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Jan. 3. Will they take to the skies? Word is probably not, as they're using their SoCal stay to chillax a bit. Admire Belle, Jingle, Noel, and Velvet from 10 to 4 daily.

Movember's Sunday Funday: How's that 'stache filled out? Looking fairly bushy? The fundraising, mustache-growing push that unfolds all November long is nearly done, and participants and their supporters are ready to party at the pier. Make that Santa Monica Pier, on Nov. 29. It's twenty bucks, there'll be activities, and a bar, and food to buy, and you'll have ample opportunity to show off your super-stylin' upper lip.
