Scammers are finding a new way to steal credit card information. Someone posing as a hotel staff member has been calling hotel rooms, claiming that there's something wrong with the credit card used to check in with, convincing the traveler to give their financial information over the phone. Michael Gundersen, a single father, found himself on the brink of losing his home after unexpected life-changing events. When the sheriff's department left a notice of foreclosure on his Rosamond home, Gundersen reached out to the Get Garcia team, which helped link the patriarch with the non-profit HomeStrong USA. Ana Medina, of Valencia, knew she was wrongly given a parking ticket. Medina says she had an hour left on her meter when she was given cited. The LA Parking Violations Bureau said the ticket was valid but when the Get Garcia team stepped in, the bureau looked through its records and dismissed the $63 ticket. A family with a certified service dog was outraged when they were charged an extra fee by car rental company Avis for pet hair removal. "In my opinion, it's against the Americans with Disabilities Act," Gary Spindt said. The fee was waived after the Get Garcia team contacted the rental company, and the family has filed a complaint with the Department of Justice. The national council of Better Business Bureaus cut ties with the Southern California chapter Tuesday after an investigation revealed a pattern of inflated business ratings in exchange for cash. However, the local chapter says they weren't expelled, but resigned. The chapter says they will remain working, and now call themselves the Business Consumer Alliance.
