LOS ANGELES -- Fifteen business leaders met for the first time Tuesday as the Mayor's Trade Advisory Council, which is tasked with identifying ways to increase foreign investment in Los Angeles and boost tourism.

The council, which will meet quarterly, is chaired by Dominic Ng, chairman and CEO of East West Bank, and Suzanne Nora Johnson, former vice chair of The Goldman Sachs Group.

"Trade is the lifeblood of the local economy and serves as a catalyst for growth and good-paying jobs," said Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

"MTAC will ensure that Los Angeles reaps all of the benefits of international trade and investment, stands front and center in the global economy and thrives on the world stage."
