Shocking Light Sensors: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that 75,000 motion sensor switches manufactured by HeathCo LLC are being voluntarily recalled due to a shock hazard.
According to the recall, when the Heath/Zenith and Wireless Command motion sensing wall switches are in the auto mode and the light is off, a small amount of current passes through the electric circuit, including the socket.
The products pose a risk of electric shock during bulb replacement if consumers change the bulb without disconnecting the power to the switch at the circuit breaker or fuse box, HeathCo said.
The recall involves Heath/Zenith and WirelessCommand motion sensing wall switches that come in white or ivory. They were sold nationwide from August 2007 through August 2011 for between $20 and $25.
GM Recall: General Motors is recalling about 5,220 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to faulty electronics that may not warn of improperly fastened seat belts , according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The lose connections may cause the driver not to receive a visual or audible warning that the seat belt is not properly fastened, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash, the NHTSA said.
GM is notifying customers and will replace the electronics free of charge.
