3.6-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Central California

A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck east of Salinas at 11:17 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

No injuries or damage was immediately reported.

The magnitude was initially reported as 3.9. That figure was later revised by USGS to 3.6.

Weak shaking was reported in Hollister, Soledad and Salinas, located about 300 miles north of downtown Los Angeles and 100 miles south of San Francisco.
