Ambulance Stolen – Later Recovered – on Diabetic Call in Daly City

Someone stole a San Mateo County ambulance in Daly City early Monday as emergency crews were responding to a call from a diabetic patient.

Sgt. Eddie Klier said the ambulance driver left the vehicle running in the 500 block of Schwerin Street about 12:15 a.m. while trying to help the diabetic patient.

At some point during the call, someone stole the ambulance.

But whoever took the large emergency vehicle took a very short joy ride.

It was found about a quarter mile away on Ottilia Street near the Cow Palace.

But the keys and the gas card had been swiped.

There is no suspect description.

Authorities said another ambulance was dispatched to help the diabetic patient.
