Bryan Stow Attends Giants Season Finale, Gives Thumbs Up

Giants fans give injured paramedic a standing ovation

Bryan Stow was at AT&T Park Sunday where a fundraiser was held for him during the Giants' season finale against the San Diego Padres. A proceed of tickets sales was given to the Bryan Stow Fund.

During the game, Stow was shown on the big screen which brought a spontaneous cheer from the crowd.

As the cheers grew, Stow could be seen reacting to it with a big smile. He seemed surprised at the support.

His reaction seemed to make the fans cheer louder. It didn't stop until Stow received a standing ovation. Some Giants fans had tears in their eyes and Stow had a huge smile on on his.

Stow gave the crowd a thumbs up and said thank you.

Stow appeared - at least on the surface - much healthier than he had in the past. It appeared as though he was stronger, sitting up in his wheelchair without support, and he seemed more aware of his surroundings.

Stow had suffered a setback in January, when he was sent back to the hospital with a large blood clot. His family gives regular updates on Stow's condition on this blog.

Still,  Stow has brain damage stemming from a 2011 attack at Dodgers Stadium on Opening Day when the Giants fan and Santa Clara County paramedic was brutally beaten. He has nerve damage in his left arm, which prevents him from lifting it or opening his hand. He also needs more surgery for bone growth. And he still requires 24-hour care.

The Giants held a series of fundraisers for Stow last week - ironically, the week 24-year-old Jonathan Denver of Fort Bragg, Calif., was fatally stabbed in a Dodgers-Giants scuffle outside AT&T Park. Denver was a Dodger fan.

Two men were arrested in Stow's beating, and they are still awaiting trial.

The Giants won the game 7-6, after Hunter Pence delivered the walk-off hit in the ninth inning.
