A man armed with a cup of soda tossed the beverage in a convenience store clerk's face before a frantic scramble for cash from the register in an unusual attack caught on security cameras.
The attack occurred June 11 in the central California community of Madera, northwest of Fresno. The video was released by police this week in an effort to identify the attacker at the Madera Avenue Market.
Security camera video showed the man turn away from the counter before quickly turning back to throw the drink in the clerk's face after the cash register opened. The man reached with both hands inside the cash register and pulled out as much cash as he could grab, fumbling some bills on the floor.
The man then jumped over the counter to take more cash.
No serious injuries were reported.
