The parents of a Navy seaman from Pittsburg who died aboard the USS Ronald Reagan earlier this month while it was stationed in Japan are seeking answers about their daughter's death.
Seaman Danyelle Luckey reportedly died from sudden cardiac arrest on Oct. 10, but her parents, Derrick and Annette Luckey, are not sure what caused her to go into cardiac arrest. They said when they last saw Danyelle, she was a healthy girl and had no medical history of problems.
The Navy hasn’t provided any details about Danyelle's death. Navy officials have scheduled a Monday conference call with a doctor in Japan.
The last time the Luckeys spoke with their daughter was Oct. 6, four days before her death. The day before that, Danyelle had been texting her mother that she felt ill. She went to the ship's medic, and personnel there told her she was just seasick.
A day later, Danyelle felt the same and returned to the medic. Danyelle told her mother that they had given her a flu shot.
The Luckeys suspect something else contributed to Danyelle's death, but many of their questions remained unanswered.
Derrick and Annette Luckey described their daughter as a fun, generous girl who loved to hike. She also was a girly girl who loved to do her makeup and dress up, they said.

A service for Danyelle is scheduled for Wednesday at Memory Garden in Concord at 10 a.m. She will receive a military honor.
