Police Search For Driver Who Hit 7-Year-Old Girl in Santa Rosa

A 7-year-old girl in Santa Rosa was hit by a car and thrown several feet into the air but miraculously walked away Saturday evening.

Police are now looking for the driver who hit her and then left the scene. The collision occurred about 5 p.m. Saturday on Louis Krohn Drive.

Surveillance video captured the incident, showing a black BMW hitting Hazel Conzet near her Santa Rosa home. The impact sends Hazel flying into the air several feet, and amazingly, she pops up and runs off while yelling at the driver.

Hazel was taken to a nearby hospital for scrapes on her ankles and other minor injuries.

Witnesses say the driver stopped briefly then drove off. The driver was described as a light skinned male with a beard, police said.

Hazel was released from the hospital, and her mother was a bit shaken.

"I'm just thankful she's OK," Candace Conzet said. "It could have been a lot worse."

Santa Rosa police are now asking the public to help identify the driver of the black BMW.

Hazel was with her friends when it happened, and there were other witnesses who saw the driver open the car door after hitting Hazel before driving off.

Anyone with information should contact Santa Rosa police at 707-528-5222.

A reward up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Take Back Our Community Program. The reward is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved in this hit and run collision.
