Northern California's Best Marijuana is Being Smuggled Out of State: Report

Colorado and Washington have the best Cali bud.

Humboldt and Mendocino counties are running out of marijuana.

How could this be? It's not the drought, according to VICE: it's profits.

Motherboard reports that most growers in California's famous marijuana-growing regions are "illegally diverting their product" to recreational markets in Colorado and Washington.

In those states, keep in mind, regular old adults can buy marijuana without a doctor's recommendation, which is still required for a cannabis purchase in California.

As a result, the famous "Emerald Triangle" is "nearly out of weed," according to Tim Blake, who runs the region's annual cannabis contest, the Emerald Cup.

Most cannabis is going to dispensaries in Colorado, where adults could buy pot over-the-counter beginning in January, VICE reports.
