San Francisco Pays $1.5 Million for 2 Public Restrooms at Ocean Beach

Two newly refurbished public restrooms at Ocean Beach cost San Francisco $1.5 million.

The 85-year-old restrooms at Judah and the Great Highway have been surrounded by panhandlers and garbage for years, hardly an inviting sight befitting what was once an attractive Classical Revival style building.

SFGate reported that it and similar ones down the road at Taraval Street have been remodeled and are now open for public use.

The seven-figure price tag takes into consideration costs involved with making them ADA compliant as well as new plumbing and electrical systems.
