Searchers Find Missing Couple in Snowy Sierra

POLLOCK PINES - A Yuba City couple who became stuck in snow while driving in a mountainous area of Northern California over the weekend has been located and both are doing well, authorities said Monday.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said searchers found Rory and Susan Holloter in their truck on Monday.

The Sacramento Bee reported they were being brought back to the command center late Monday afternoon to be reunited with family members.

The Holloters, both in their 60s, were last heard from Sunday afternoon when they texted relatives to say they were stuck in the snow.

El Dorado Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Sgt. Tasha Thompson said getting in contact with the couple could have been complicated by a cell tower that is down in the area.

She said the Holloters had two sleeping bags and a small amount of food.
