Vice President Mike Pence Visits California for 2 Days

During his visit, Pence will tour NASA's Ames Research Center at Moffett Field

Vice President Mike Pence arrived in California Wednesday for a two-day visit to support President Donald Trump and tour a NASA facility.

After stops in Huntington Beach in Southern California and Monterey, Pence continued on to Moffett Field in the Bay Area, landing at the airfield at about 6:45 p.m.

Pence and second lady Karen Pence were greeted by about 75 cheering supporters at Moffett Field. At one point, the crowd chanted "U-S-A" and then "Four more years."

"You know, with the way our country is going, everybody is fighting and stuff, so we just wanted to show our support for him, and I think he's doing a good job," said Melvin Casion of Marina.

On Thursday, the vice president and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine toured NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley and addressed employees.

NASA said the visit would involve the role Ames will play in NASA’s plans to return astronauts to the moon by 2024.

The space agency said the visit would take place in its Vertical Motion Simulator, a facility that will be used to develop a lander.

Pence also spoke to 200 NASA employees before returning to Washington, D.C.
