Will Rogers State Beach
A funky odor has put a portion of Will Rogers State Beach on lockdown.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is conducting tests to determine if sewage is being discharged from a storm drain into ocean water.
In the meantime, a half-mile portion surrounding the stinky storm drain has been closed.
"We are asking people to avoid entering or swimming in the ocean in the area immediately surrounding the storm drain at Will Rogers State Beach," said Jonathan E. Fielding, Director of Public Health and Health Officer.
"Our first priority is to protect the health and safety of the people who visit the beach and water areas. Once we determine bacteria levels in the water are found to be within normal ranges, we will remove the beach advisory," Fielding said.
The advisory will be in effect until at least 12 p.m. on Friday.
