Twisting and turning Mulholland Drive was tied up Tuesday morning after a water main rupture.

The water main ruptured overnight near the  13600 block of Mulholland Drive southeast of Sherman Oaks, said Capt. John  Sullivan of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The rupture caused mud and debris to flow down the hilly road.

If you're keeping score, that's more than 40 water mater breaks in LA this fall.

The recent rupture was reported at 1:55 a.m. between Coldwater  Canyon Avenue and Beverly Glen Boulevard, said LAFD Capt. Gail Manning.  Flooding on private property was reported in the 2900 block of North Deep  Canyon Drive, south of Mulholland, Sullivan said.

Firefighters were able to divert water away from homes and into a nearby culvert.

Nearby streets affected by the rupture and the resultant flooding  included Donington Place, Manning said. The road will be closed from Coldwater to Benedict Canyon until at least 2 p.m., according to the Department of Water and Power.

Two ruptures were reported in South Los Angeles after 2 a.m. A sinkhole  opened at the site of a rupture at Wall and East 83rd Streets.

Another rupture at South Van Ness and East Florence avenues forced  street closures, according to an On Scene Video camera crew.

Firefighters and Department of Water and Power workers responded to the  ruptures, the latest in what has bafflingly become a near-daily occurrence in  Los Angeles.
