A woman whose car plunged some 100 feet off a twisting road in the Hollywood Hills was pronounced dead at a local hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman, whose car went off the 1400 block of North Sunset Plaza Drive and landed in a backyard about 3:30 p.m., was unresponsive when she was freed from the wreckage and taken to a hospital, said D'Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The woman was apparently alone in the vehicle, which fell about 100 feet down a steep ravine and came to rest against a tree.
What caused the woman to lose control of the vehicle was not immediately known.
The crash occurred at 1430 N. Sunset Plaza Dr.
