Eight Injured in Metro Train and Bus Collision

Paramedics transported seven people for hospital treatment.

A collision between a Metro Blue Line train and a bus south of downtown Los Angeles Friday left eight people injured, authorities said.

The accident was reported about 7 a.m. near the 100 block of West Washington Boulevard, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Paramedics transported four people for hospital treatment, including the bus driver and the operator of the train, Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo said. Most of the injuries occurred on the bus. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Scott said.

About 200 passengers were aboard the southbound train, Ubaldo said. Blue Line service was expected to be delayed by about 30 minutes, because the trains were going through the area by alternating on a single track, he said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
