200 Injured at LA Coliseum Music Festival

A rave at the Coliseum leaves some dancing all night and others in the hospital

Authorities say more than 200 people were injured and more than 100 were taken to hospitals during a two-day electronic music festival and rave at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Park.

Authorities said Sunday that some were hurt as people rushed barriers trying to get in without the $75 admission ticket. Aerial video showed the crowd stampeding over the top of vendor stands at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Exposition Park.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel reported 226 medical emergencies at the event, held at the Los Angeles Coliseum, said department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Of those victims, 114 were taken to local hospitals, said Humphrey.  No details about the severity of their injuries were currently available.

The event featured rides and five stages with performances by Moby and Will.I.Am.

Police officials said more than 60 arrests during the first night of the event.

Organizers said the event drew a total of 185,000 people on Friday and Saturday.
