Los Angeles public schools Superintendent Ramon Cortines is on his way to China to participate in an international educators forum.
Cortines will be joining other American educators at the "International Forum on Educational Leadership and Equality," organized by the Education Department of Shandong Province and the Education Bureau of Jinan, the Daily News reported
Cortines is also expected to visit elementary, middle and high schools, as well as higher education institutions, during his weeklong stay.
The trip is considered official business for the superintendent, who will be paid his regular salary during the visit. The LAUSD, however, will not pay for his travel expenses, which are being covered by the Ameson Education and Culture Exchange Foundation, a student exchange group that is funding the forum, the Daily News reported.
