The Los Angeles city agency that manages LAX and two other airports unveiled a new online noise complaint system for residents living near the facilities.

Los Angeles World Airports, which manages LAX, Ontario International and Van Nuys airports, will oversee the system, known as WebTrak.

It will allow users to identify loud airplanes flying in or out of the three airports and report them to LAWA on the organization's Web site.

Using the system, the public will be able to identify loud airplanes by aircraft type, altitude, flight number and both the originating and destination airports, according to LAWA. Users can then report loud airplanes using an online complaint form.

"The new and improved features of our WebTrak system provide the public with additional user-friendly tools to understand how aircraft operate in the airspace and the noise from those operations," said Robert Freeman, LAWA's Environmental Services Division Manager.

"It demonstrates LAWA's continuing commitment to provide residents in neighboring communities with the means to quickly identify and report aircraft operations that cause them concern."

All flight information on the system will be delayed by 30 minutes out of security concerns, according to LAWA.

Users can access the system at www.lawa.org by clicking on the "Noise Management" link on the left hand side of the page.
