Police on Wednesday released surveillance video and images of a man suspected of trying to set fire to a West Los Angeles church.
The video shows the man armed with "combustible material inside of a backpack and thermo cup" walking by the Los Angeles Temple Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 10777 Santa Monica Blvd., according to police.
Police say the man's plans were thwarted when he was unable to get through the church's locked doors.
"Three hours later, a suspicious fire occurred outside in the garden area of the church property," according to a statement from the LAPD.
The video was captured on May 17 about 10:30 a.m.
